Le jeu se présente comme la suite d'un précédent opus de puzzles apaisant et addictif. Il propose plus de cent puzzles conçus avec soin, invitant à un voyage mêlant logique et résolution de problèmes. Le but est de recouvrir chaque puzzle d'une seule couleur en aussi peu de coups que possible afin de mériter un autocollant « Parfait », tout en affrontant des subtilités et surprises diaboliques. Les joueurs peuvent également relever un défi quotidien mondial, comparer leurs scores et séries de victoires, et explorer les milliers de puzzles créés par les utilisateurs et mis en ligne chaque jour via un éditeur de puzzle permettant de concevoir et partager ses propres compositions.
L'accueil du jeu reflète une diversité d'opinions, avec un score agrégé de 69,98. La presse a salué certains aspects du titre, comme AppAdvice qui qualifie le jeu de « fantastic follow-up to the original » avec des visuels évoquant l'origami et un son « amazing », ou Pocket Gamer UK qui note que « Even with its flaws, Kami 2 is a puzzler perfect for filling in spare moments ». Du côté des joueurs, si l'un décrit la suite comme « even more amazing » et « Astonishing, mind blowing », un autre regrette que le jeu devienne « almost impossible to complete unless you spend a lot of money on hints or watch videos of other people ».

« The game is a fantastic follow-up to the original, which I adored. The visuals make the game look and feel like genuine origami, the sound is amazing, the puzzles are challenging enough without being too overwhelming, and the wide variety of included levels as well as daily challenges and user-made stages keeps everything fresh and interesting, even if you beat the main game. This is another fantastic puzzle game from State of Play Games that I will be keeping on my device for some time. »
