Développé par Maddox Games, IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles - Ace est un jeu de simulation disponible sur PC (Microsoft Windows) depuis le 2 mars 2004. Présenté comme le simulateur de vol de la Seconde Guerre mondiale le plus réaliste à ce jour, ce pack d'extension fait progresser la série IL-2: Forgotten Battles.
La presse a salué les qualités du titre. PC Gameworld a ainsi déclaré que « IL-2FB AEP is the Premiere WW2 simulation. It is the benchmark, which all sims should follow. In spite of some of its flaws, nothing comes close to the action … ». De même, PC Gamer a écrit que « No flight sim has ever been more convincing...IL-2 Ace continues the series' climb as the runaway leader in the World War II prop-sim wars. [June 2004, p.72] ».
