Forza Horizon, développé par Playground Games et édité par Microsoft Studios, est sorti le 23 octobre 2012 sur Xbox 360. Ce jeu de course en monde ouvert se déroule sur les routes du Colorado dans le cadre d'un festival de musique, mêlant graphismes soignés et une sélection de véhicules inspirée de la série Forza. Le jeu propose une histoire principale bouclable en environ quinze heures et demie, tandis qu'une complétion exhaustive demande près de vingt-sept heures. Avec une note moyenne agrégée de 82,68, l'accueil critique a été favorable : la presse a salué sa capacité à conserver l'identité de la série tout en ouvrant le genre à un public plus large, et certains joueurs ont apprécié la musique, les cartes et le choix des voitures, tout en relevant la présence de missions imparfaites et d'éléments aléatoires moins réussis.

« The Cars. Perfect. The Driving. Perfect. The Progression. Best Ive ever seen. This game forever changed my perspective on racing games. Playing it made me feel like it was 2013 and I was coming home from school everyday to play Forza. I did not play this on any emulators, only real hardware. Everything about this game is perfect. Well almost. Ive spent this whole time glazing FH1, now to talk about its flaws and why its a 9 and not a 10. The "Open World" map doesnt feel very open world. You can really only drive on roads, making the offroad trucks pretty much useless. Its lacking some features of modern forza horizon games. Like Wheelspins, Kudos, Online Servers. But that doesnt stop this game from being AMAZING!!!! »

« Não é só o melhor da franquia mas também o melhor jogo de corrida de todos Já zerei umas 2 vezes, joguei no xbox one e zerei denovo umas 3 vezes, 5 vezes no total. Rádios com músicas bem nostalgicas, mapa bom, a mecânica de subir de pulseira é boa, DLC do rally é boa pra caramba também. Craca que jogo bom, marcou minha infância »
« Played it on my Xbox one, only problem as a Xbox one (and other users will have the same issue) is that when a gamer plays it on backward compatibility u are limited on how many vinyls u can have, more vinyls mean more backup for a game and that game wasn't made for a big backup. « Best Forza horizon out of all five. Even the SIXTH one that is still going to launch. The environmental feel and the overall atmosphere of this game is impeccable. Graphics are nice for 2012, (with a really good set of colors and shadows), Event races are really fun to do, career is richly implemented, Map is not that big but rightly detailed and the radio songs are on another level. (Turn 10 chose a Real professional DJ to make the OST of this game). It still baffles me that this game is kinda underrated and people mostly overlook more on FH3 as the best than this one. If they do a Remaster (which maybe will not happen because of unknown reasons...) Trust me, this will be the best Arcade racing game of all time. The craft and ambitions behind this game were deeply inspiring, just like society in 2012 in its pure form, true personality. No woke content, No boring progression or annoying things, Its almost like a driver's heaven. If youre more of a casual than a hardcore Forza fan, this is the game to fall in love. »
