FIFA 16, développé par EA Canada et édité par EA Sports, est sorti le 22 septembre 2015 sur PC, PlayStation 4 et Xbox One. Ce jeu de sport, fonctionnant sur le moteur Ignite et protégé par les systèmes Origin et Denuvo Anti-Tamper, propose une expérience de football axée sur un équilibre et une authenticité accrus, avec des innovations sur l'ensemble du terrain telles que la confiance en défense, le contrôle au milieu de terrain et la création de moments de magie, incluant un mode d'entraînement nommé FIFA Trainer destiné aux nouveaux joueurs comme aux confirmés.
L'accueil critique a été favorable, le titre obtenant un score de 81 sur Metacritic et de 83 sur OpenCritic pour une note agrégée de 80,56. La presse a salué la portée du jeu, le Guardian évoquant la « breathtaking scope » de Fifa face à son concurrent direct, tandis que Cheat Code Central a relevé que le titre pouvait même convertir un fan de hockey en amateur de football. Certains joueurs, via Metacritic, ont exprimé leur appréciation pour le système de défense et de gardien de but, ou encore pour la possibilité de créer son propre personnage, tout en qualifiant l'ensemble de « belo jogo » ou de « muy bueno ».
