ESPN NBA Basketball, un jeu de sport développé par Visual Concepts et publié par Sega, est paru le 21 octobre 2003 sur PlayStation 2 et Xbox. Le titre plonge le joueur dans l'ambiance d'un véritable match ESPN NBA, s'appuyant sur des visuels détaillés, des incrustations accrocheuses ainsi qu'un commentaire en studio et à chaud animé par Kevin Frazier et Tom Tolbert.
Sur le plan de l'accueil critique, le magazine Official U.S. Playstation Magazine a salué ce qu'il juge comme l'apogée du sport en jeu vidéo, louant une jouabilité quasi irréprochable et une large palette de modes. GamePro a pour sa part décrit l'œuvre comme le rêve d'un technicien du basket, estimant que les parties face à l'ordinateur imitent fidèlement une rencontre réelle et que les matchs entre amis gagnent en énergie. Un joueur s'exprimant sur Metacritic a rappelé que ce fut l'une des premières occurrences du mode « My Player » dont il se souvenait, le trouvant presque meilleur que NBA Live dans ce jeu.
