Dirt 5, développé par Codemasters Cheshire et édité par Codemasters, est sorti le 5 novembre 2020 sur PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S et Google Stadia. Ce jeu de course, d'aventure, de simulation et de sport propose une expérience de course tout-terrain où le joueur parcourt des circuits à travers le monde, au volant d'une large sélection de véhicules allant des voitures de rallye aux camions et aux GT. Le mode Carrière, doublé par les acteurs Troy Baker et Nolan North, permet de gagner des sponsors et de affronter un rival, tandis que l'écran partagé jusqu'à quatre joueurs et des modes en ligne innovants complètent l'offre. Le titre utilise le moteur Onrush et intègre la protection Denuvo, avec un temps de completion de 8 heures et demie pour l'histoire principale et 24 heures pour le profil complétionniste.
La presse a salué le style arcade du jeu, TheGamer le comparant à Project CARS 3 avec un accent sur le rallye, et Digital Chumps y voyant un vent de fraîcheur pour la franchise grâce à l'intégration de figures de la culture automobile. Certains joueurs sur Metacritic ont apprécié la conduite arcade et la qualité graphique, bien que des avis négatifs existent, comme un joueur Steam évoquant le « pire jeu jamais créé ». Dirt 5 affiche un score Metacritic de 72, un score OpenCritic de 81 et une note agrégée de 75,51, pour un prix de 54,99 euros.

« Dirt 5 is similar to Project CARS 3 with its arcade racing style - just with a larger focus on rally racing. The style absolutely works in Dirt 5, offering up accessible rally racing to anyone interested in getting behind the wheel. Of course, the drive is what you make it. So should you want to become a master racer to take on other skilled players online, that option is also easily available to you so long as you're willing to put in the time. »
« Dirt 5 is a breath of fresh air into the franchise. Bringing in new and relevant influencers from car culture into the game, and having a blast behind the wheel, it’s a game for any gear head. The gameplay is fresh and uplifting to be apart of. You can take it as seriously as F1 or any other racing game, but you can also just sit down and have a fun enough time just running around and braking everything. The depth and diversity of the career mode is something that can keep anyone around to play with such a wide array of races to choose from. My only real knocks are that the customization for cars is slightly limited livery wise and that the HUD takes a bit to fully grasp. Other than that, Dirt 5 is a game for any car enthusiast to pick up and go have a ball with. »

« There are two parts to this game. The first are the official tracks themselves, amd from those that i've played, they're well made, and quite fun. However, the community-made tracks all feel quite hashed together, but that may be because of limited building resources. It can be fun though, so I reccomend this one. »
