Black Screen Patch + Satellite Balancing
Hello everyone, Some players recently reported that Desktown was appearing without transparency (showing a black background) and becoming unclickable. We’ve released a new patch that should fix this issue. From what we’ve observed, a recent Windows update seems to have broken our transparency system—even affecting previously stable builds, including the demo. After updating the game, the problem should be resolved. If the issue still persists, you can try the following manual fix: Right-click the game in Steam → Manage → Browse local files. Right-click the game’s executable (.exe) → Properties. Open the Compatibility tab. Enable Disable fullscreen optimizations. Restart the game. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. This problem came very unexpectedly, and we happened to be at an offline conference (Gamers 2 Gamers 2025) showcasing Desktown, which caused the delay in addressing it. This update also includes a balance change: all Satellite resource rewards have been increased by 5×, as the previous values were too low. That’s all for now. Thank you for your patience, and please let us know if you encounter any other issues—either on our Discord or in the comments of this Steam post.
Post-Launch Bug Fixes + 100 Copies Sold!
Hey everyone! Thank you so much for helping Desktown pass 100 copies sold! We’re grateful for every player who picked it up, and we’re very thankful for the opportunity to keep improving the game. We also received several helpful bug reports, and the latest update includes these fixes: FPS limit now works properly. Castle Automator no longer overlaps in the background — its length has been shortened to prevent visual clipping. Black screen on startup should be resolved. Inspector missing / stuck in the world when rapidly deleting items has been fixed. Thanks again for supporting the project and for giving us the chance to keep building with excellence.
