Développé par INGAME STUDIOS et édité par 505 Games, Crime Boss: Rockay City est un jeu de tir à la première personne centré sur le crime organisé, sorti le 28 mars 2023 sur PC, PlayStation 5 et Xbox Series X|S. Propulsé par l'Unreal Engine 4, le titre propose une expérience mêlant action et guerres de territoire, jouable aussi bien en solo qu'en coopération jusqu'à quatre joueurs avec prise en charge du cross-play.
L'intrigue place le joueur dans la peau de Travis Baker, qui ambitionne de devenir le nouveau roi de Rockay City suite à la disparition de son prédécesseur. La campagne solo adopte une structure roguelite où il faut monter son gang, conquérir des territoires et renverser les chefs rivaux à travers des dizaines de missions aléatoires, en choisissant entre approche discrète ou braquages spectaculaires. En multijoueur, le jeu propose des braquages coopératifs avec choix de la difficulté, création de boss personnalisé, équipement d'armes et d'avantages, ainsi que des modes variés comme les mini-campagnes « Légendes urbaines », le mode survie Rockay Rumble ou encore des missions aléatoires. Un système de progression unifié permet de débloquer armes, braqueurs, équipements et skins, le tout ponctué par des événements à double expérience.
Côté durée de vie, la campagne principale demande environ onze heures et demie pour être bouclée, tandis qu'une complétion intégrale peut dépasser cinquante-deux heures. Le jeu est commercialisé au prix de 19,99 euros.
L'accueil critique s'est révélé mitigé, le titre affichant une note de 51 sur Metacritic et 53 sur OpenCritic pour une moyenne agrégée de 57,07. La presse spécialisée a livré des avis contrastés : Impulsegamer a déclaré apprécier l'expérience et la recommander, soulignant l'attrait du casting, tandis que GameGrin l'a qualifiée de « bonne surprise » malgré des fondations fragiles, prévenant toutefois qu'il faut s'attendre à mourir souvent. Du côté des joueurs, les retours sont partagés ; certains soulignent une prise en main initiale difficile mais une forte capacité d'accroche sur la durée, d'autres vantent les qualités du jeu en coopération entre amis. Des critiques techniques persistent néanmoins, notamment concernant des problèmes de latence et de « rollback » en multijoueur, ayant même poussé certains à quitter le titre malgré un intérêt pour le gameplay.

« I’m really enjoying Crime Boss Rockay City and highly recommend it! If you have a soft spot for the cast then that’s a good draw card… but if you have a big ol’ spot of nostalgia for music of the 90’s… it will be hard to suppress the smile as you enter a shopping mall only to hear Freestyler playing. If you want a great heist game that involves a bit more thinking and planning than GTA or even Payday… grab a copy! »

« Гра виявилася досить цікавою і дійсно затягнула мене на багато годин, незважаючи на те, що перше враження було не надто позитивним. Я помилково думала, що це буде щось на кшталт GTA з відкритим містом, але ця гра зовсім про інше.Crime Boss: Rockay City — це шутер від першої особи з елементами роуглайт-стратегії. Ви керуєте бандою на глобальній карті міста, захоплюєте райони, а самі пограбування та розбірки проходять у форматі тактичного FPS. Для цього ми рекрутуємо найманців, купуємо зброю та прокачуємо свою банду. Звісно, на все це потрібні гроші $$$ — а заробляємо ми їх кримінальним шляхом >(^-^)< Гра має цікавий сюжет і класний гумор — я почувалася, ніби опинилася в голлівудському бойовику 90-х! Усі персонажі досить вайбові: бос Бейкер — справжній сігма, розумниця-красуня Кейсі, непереможний Тач. А коли у місто прибув антагоніст — сам шериф Чак Норріс — імбовість цієї події просто підпалила мій екран :о)Трохи про геймплей. Гра досить легка у проходженні (я грала на звичайному рівні складності), хоча тут немає сейвів перед початком та під час виконання завдань. Майже всі місії можна робити однією людиною по стелсу (головне взяти цеглину - далі вже водимо НПС як гусенят у тихий куточок). Захист території Тач зазвичай вивозить сам — головне сховатись на краю локації та дочекатись поліції :РНеважливо, виграли ви чи програли — розпочинаючи нову кампанію, отримаєте бонуси, нові завдання та гілки сюжету. Тому раджу пройти її декілька разів.Графіка непогана, локації величезні і деталізовні , нпс також прикольні.З мінусів: бракує детального опису до місій - неможливо зрозуміти, що нас чекає у наступній місії - стрілянка чи можливість стелсу. Декілька разів я так наламувалась - відправляла босса з цеглиною проти армії дуже злих копів які одразу агрились (:Також із часом починають повторюватися локації, але щоб не занудьгувати, можна проходити їх по-різному — наприклад, спробувати щось інше замість стелсу з цеглиною (бо хоч це й імбово, але трохи душно).Онлайн-режим я ще не пробувала, тож нічого сказати не можу.Загальне враження від гри дуже позитивне. Рекомендую всім, хто хоче на кілька вечорів відчути себе сігма-героєм бойовика! »
