Description Steam (Français)
Bonaparte's Bluff is a two-player abstract strategy game. Use your pieces to push through your opponent's line, and reach their castles to win the game.
But there's a twist - the pieces lie. Any piece can pretend to be any other. It is up to you to figure out what's real, and what's a bluff!
Have you caught your opponent in a lie? Are you confident you can identify a bluff they have made? Challenge it! If you're right, you will be rewarded with an advantage. But on the flip side, if you challenge a move that isn't a bluff, they get the advantage - so be careful!
Bonaparte's Bluff provides a framework that allows for rich strategic depth. Do you want to play cautiously, and force your opponent to come to you? Bluff aggressively, and overwhelm your opponent's abilities to tell what's what? Hang back and look for a golden opportunity to pull a game-winning trick? It's all possible! Develop your own strategies, and use them to take control over the board!
Bonaparte's Bluff includes:
Single player (VS CPU): Learn the game and hone your strategies while playing against a variety of CPU-controlled opponents.
Online multiplayer (VS Human): Climb to the top of the ranked ladder, play in unranked games, or invite your friends to play in private lobbies.
Time formats: Play in Standard, Quick, Accelerated or Lightning formats, each with its own distinct ranked ladder. Each mode's time constraints provides a unique challenge to the game.
Replays: Did you play a particularly impressive game? Did you make a spectacular game-winning bluff you want to remember forever? Did you get outplayed, and want to see how your opponent did it? Save the replay, and play it back move-by-move any time you want!
Trailer music: "Freedom" by Scott Buckley - released under CC-BY 4.0.

v1.1.0 Update
Greetings, bluffers! Update v1.1.0 has come to Bonaparte's Bluff! The changes are as follows: New Feature - Marking Pieces: You may now right-click on opposing pieces to mark them! Right-clicking on an unmarked piece will mark it with a "!" symbol. Further right-clicks will change the mark to a "?", then an "X", and finally remove the mark entirely, in that order. Your piece markings are visible only to you, not your opponent. This is intended to help reduce the need to track pieces mentally.Bug Fixes: Some bug fixes that were released in previous patches have also been persisted to v1.1.0:Fixed a bug that sometimes caused a player to lose by timeout even in an untimed game. (Fixed since v1.0.1)Fixed a bug that occasionally caused the game to freeze during the transition between music tracks. (Fixed since v1.0.1.1)Fixed a bug that caused ranked results to fail to verify if the game lasted too long. (Fixed since v1.0.2)Fixed a bug that prevented players from deselecting pieces. (Fixed since v1.0.3)IMPORTANT: You MUST be running the most recent version of the game (v1.1.0) in order for ranked results to verify. If you are running a previous version of the game (the main menu displays what version you are running), you can force the game to update by selecting Bonaparte's Bluff in your Steam library, selecting "Properties", then selecting "Installed Files" and clicking the "Verify integrity of game files" button. Until next time! -BoltFromTheGreen

To create a new formation, just click the "New Formation" button on the Formations menu. (Note that you will only be able to do this if all of your existing formations are completed.)The game is now integrated with Steam Cloud, allowing for settings, formations and replays to be backed up onto the cloud!A full playlist of twelve music tracks has been added to the game! If you want to exclude certain tracks from the playlist, you can choose which tracks are included in the playlist by going to the "Manage Music" menu on the Options screen. (Note that these music tracks increase the size of the game build to approximately 210 MB.)Additionally, some minor features are also included:The game screen now displays your username, instead of "Demo Player".All 25 CPU opponents, their designation and their playing strength are visible. (CPU opponents above Level 0 continue to be unavailable to be challenged in the demo.)A minor change has been made to the game's notation, and the game's tutorial has been updated to reflect this.
