Histoire (IGDB)

Blade Chimera
Blade Chimera ditches the usual metroidvania progression in favour of a radical idea: skipping straight to the good stuff
There's a certain degree of predictability to the metroidvania genre. The opening area is the part where the story takes a moment to emphasise how alone I am, and then makes me do a bit of vanilla jumping and attacking while I pass by all the interesting places I can't go yet but will inevitably have to revisit in a few hours time. I'll see some obviously open passageway that's just a little too high for me to reach and I'll sigh, wondering if this is one of those games where I'll eventually get up there with a double jump, or if it's one of those games where I'll learn how to wall kick instead... Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Blade Chimera is Team Ladybug's first original metroidvania. This means that it is not based on any franchise, but its story and characters were made from scratch by the development team. And, as expected for those of us who have played their previous titles, the result is a resounding success. Not only is it a fun game, but each of its components work in harmony to create a polished and balanced experience. »
« Blade Chimera feels like a breath of fresh air for the Metroidvania genre, standing out with its gameplay and design choices—though keyboard players may want to grab a controller for this one. »
« Team Ladybug understands what makes a great metroidvania. As such, expect Blade Chimera to deliver gripping play, eye-pampering visuals, and boss battles that will undoubtedly elevate heart rates. Thankfully, much of the momentum-breaking puzzling and playtime padding are absent. »
« Team Ladybug’s latest release is a grand one—the slower-paced nature of the action feels good to play especially as you get a better grasp of Shin and his companion’s move sets. The downtrodden Osaka city landscape has plenty of exploration potential and baddies to encounter, meaning that I can wholeheartedly recommend Blade Chimera to the 2D Metroidvania aficionado and novice alike. »
« Blade Chimera is a fresh metroidvania with excellent pixel art and a great level design. »
« Blade Chimera is one of the most good-looking and engaging platformer titles out there. It easily taps into its classical influences while still maintaining its own identity. At worst, it can sometimes be an annoying game that hides crucial information. If you can overlook some of its flaws, Blade Chimera will be well worth your time. »
« It's maybe not what I'll reach for the next time I'm in the mood for a metroidvania, but it's a symphony in its own right. »
« Blade Chimera does little that feels new, but delivers a slice of comfortable, familiar and, dare I say it, safe side-scrolling adventure. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« Maybe not a 10/10 game, but I'm rating it so high because I'm having tons of fun with it. I love the art style, I love the cool main character, I love how it plays and how thight the controls are... I love metroidvania and this game is really great for me. Absolutely recommended. »
« Chimera Blade is an exceptional action game, delivering everything fans love from Team Ladybug: smooth movement, a dynamic attack system, and the signature MP and HP regeneration mechanics. It’s a massive improvement over their previous title, Record of Lodoss War, and stands tall alongside Touhou Luna Nights. The pixel art and design are absolutely stunning, making it one of the most visually impressive games in the community. The dynamic bosses, despite being just pixels, feel alive thanks to their engaging movements and ideas. However, the game’s difficulty, especially with the bosses, could be a bit more **** story is fresh and compelling, with intriguing twists and well-developed characters that keep you hooked. And let's not forget the music—it’s simply phenomenal, adding so much to the overall experience. While some might find it a bit frustrating that the game isn’t a full Metroidvania, I actually think the choice to structure it more like Metroid Fusion, with unlocking new areas via simple keys, works well for the sake of storytelling and accessibility. Overall, it’s a fantastic game that manages to capture the best elements of action and exploration while offering a rich narrative." »
« Gameplay was good, I recommend changing the button layout right off the bat. The default setting is pretty bad. Also, most of the game is pretty breezy, but holy crap did they make leveling up, and better gear pretty much useless for the true final boss. Literally 2 hits and you're dead. WTF? Still good though. »
« Cool looking classic metroidvania. Some bugs here and there but they don't affect the gameplay enjoyment. Fun animations and interesting mechanics. Absolute hit. »
« I think this is just an average metroidvania. The turning is clunky and the movement is very baseline and standard. There are not nearly enough weapons to choose from. The animation is solid enough, as is the story, but I was overall disappointed in this. »
