X-Plane 10

« Trying to get closer and closer to the almighty FSX. With a new ATC, the best flight dynamics still, and a huge improvement on weather the guys at Laminar research must be proud of this simulator. »
« Plenty of progress, especially in the areas of graphics and air traffic control, but don't toss aside Microsoft's FSX yet. [Apr 2012, p.69] »

« In X-Plane, flight physics are computed from the actual geometry instead of look-up tables like in most other titles. Since it also includes a GUI for plane design, it invites to experiment with plane designs. And a lot of people do, leading to tons of free planes to download at the community platform ****. The flight model feels just right and (in contrast to FSX) it can deal with helicopters out of the box. The included planes and helicopters are of mixed quality (some with 2D panels only), but as already mentioned, there are a lot of free ones from the community and if you are in need of perfection, there are also fairly complete payware planes. One thing that should be improved (in particular for helicopter flying) are collisions with objects. In the current version there are only few surfaces which detect collisions. And it would be more fun, if you could land on buildings and race though the streets. If you are looking for a non-combat flight simulator that is already great fun and fairly complete without additional payware, X-Plane 10 is for you. »
« I have allways been on the microsoft simulators side, but after that they introduced microsoft flight, i imidiatly started looking for another one. I ended up with x-plane 10, and i am happy i did. The graphics are absoulutely amazing at high settings, even thoe it runs a bit slow at high with a amd 6950 and phenom II 1055t, but at medium-high settings i get a good 30-40 fps. The scenery could be a little bit better, but there is a 64bit patch coming up, making it even better. What really shines about the graphics are the buildings and roads, it looks almost like real compared to fsx and flight, they are placed in order around the world and some places you will find a neighbourhood with a small grooup of houses, while in fsx and flight they are just spread around randomly. The planes are good looking, but i have to complain about lack of indoor detail, they could really do it better there, and also you cant look around in **** unless you have track ir, wich is really stupid in my opinion. Also, i would like to see more planes coming, FREE, not that you have to buy. There are about 30 planes in x-plane, but i think that there should be more, espessially for this 80$ game. I also have had a hard time getting my joystick to work with all the different commands, when i want flaps to go up with feks button 5 on my jostick, and go down on button 6, when i try ingame it suddenly goes up on buttom 3 and down on button 5, REALLY ANOYING, TRUST ME. anyways, really good fligt sim, really detailed, very realistic, espesially wing flex wich is awesome, but pls fix the damn joystick thing and add more planes laminar research !!!!!!! »
