World Soccer: Winning Eleven 6 International, développé et publié par Konami, est sorti le 25 avril 2002 sur PlayStation 2 dans le genre sport. Le titre propose un modèle de création de joueurs détaillé, incluant 19 statistiques supplémentaires en plus des 25 variables définissant les joueurs réels, ainsi qu'un mode Master League approfondi composé de trois divisions et doté d'un nouveau système de gestion des contrats.
Concernant l'accueil critique et des joueurs, GamePro a salué la profondeur des fonctionnalités et des options de jeu, estimant que le titre n'est pas aussi tape-à-l'œil que FIFA mais offre une telle profondeur qu'on pourrait y jouer plusieurs années sans tout voir. De son côté, Into Liquid Sky a regretté que de nombreuses personnes, marquées par la série FIFA, soient réticentes à essayer la série WE, ce qu'il juge dommageable. Sur Metacritic, un joueur a exprimé un sentiment étrange face au jeu, se demandant si des noms d'équipes et de joueurs réels sont nécessaires pour un bon jeu de football et penchant pour une réponse affirmative, tandis qu'un autre joueur a présenté le titre comme un jeu japonais venu briser l'emprise de FIFA et ayant dominé pendant des décennies avant de perdre son cap en 2023.

« I feel strange about this game. They kind of answered here do you need real team/player names in order to make a good football game? I'm inclined to think yes. The lack of any real leagues or players definitely takes away from PES, but I think there are a few areas I quite enjoyed. The intro FMV was fun with Queen playing in the background (and in the credits) and the jam that plays when you score is fun and sorely missed in later PES titles on the PS2. I think the gameplay is somewhat lacking compared to the competition, everything feels just a little stiff and unrefined - and simplistic but that is par for the era. Overall I had a fun experience but It was nothing to write home about in the sea of sports games. »

It's easy to pick up and play, but it gets even better when you learn the special moves. This game is deep, much deeper than the shallow gameplay that Fifa football games have to offer. Even the graphics are fine for a game this old! I still play this game today in 2017 because they just didn't make a better football game since this one. »
