The Battle Cats est un jeu de stratégie de type tower defense mobile, développé et publié par PONOS, qui a été lancé le 1er novembre 2011. Disponible sur les plateformes Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch et Nintendo 3DS, le titre met en scène des chats confrontés à des ennemis redoutables, parmi lesquels se trouvent Doge le chien, Gory le gorille et H. Nah la hyène. Le jeu enregistre une note agrégée de 77,78.
Du côté de l'accueil des joueurs, certains utilisateurs s'étant exprimés sur Metacritic ont partagé des avis élogieux. L'un d'eux a indiqué que le jeu offre une pléthore de contenu, même si son déblocage requiert un certain temps, tandis qu'un autre l'a qualifié de son jeu mobile favori de tous les temps, mentionnant avoir accumulé environ 50 heures de jeu à travers l'Empire des chats tout en restant aussi accro qu'au premier jour.

« My all time favourite mobile game the whole way through Empire of cats I was having an amazing time and after around 50 hours in im still just as hooked as day 1 and though the early game may seem simplistic its a tutorial for mid to late game where it becomes extremely strategy based this starts at the end of chapter 3 moon where you will begin to really struggle »

« A gaming tour de force, this has to be one of (if not) the best mobile game ever created. Yes, it has grinding. Yes, it's a gacha game, but god damn it's so good. The gameplay is simple to pick up , and hard to master. There's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much content (it's a 7 year old game and it's still getting updated). The music and the graphics of this game are god tier. It is weird (it's a Japanese gacha game , what do you expect) but that makes it charming. At first glance , it looks like a funny cat game , but it has a comical amount of lore which includes the cat army fighting against god himself in the big bang. Overall , this game has it all. I'd give it a 11/10 if I could . »

« My nephew got me into this game and I subsequently spent over 100 hrs playing this game and I was constantly asking myself, should I stop now? There is just too much grinding. You play, you get stuck. How do you get unstuck? You have to get the highest treasure level of a board you already completed. Getting that treasure is random and not based on performance, so you just keep doing it over and over. Even when you get Ubers (I have 4), it takes forever to really make them powerful. The game is designed to keep you playing and playing and it does that well, but it was 90% work and 10% satisfaction. After I deleted it, I did not miss it. One bonus is the game is super stable on my old phone. »
