Super Sidekicks
Description (IGDB)
Published in 1993, the original Super Sidekicks (known as Tokuten Ou, "Goal-Scoring King" in Japan) was SNK's first soccer video game. It features 12 teams divided into two groups which compete for the "SNK Cup" (the main differences between teams is their formations on the field): Group A: Germany, Italy, Spain, England, Mexico, Japan Group B: Argentina, Holland, Brazil, France, United States, South Korea The players' team plays against all the others in their group, then it goes into an elimination tournament's semifinals and then the final to win the cup. There was also a hidden feature in the game, which wasn't documented, and affects a single player game. During a free kick for the CPU if the player has tapped button A for player two, the CPU performs a short-shot, while pressing the button A performs a longer kick.

« There are a few changes to the football formula, but SNK's arcade version of the sport can still provide entertainment. Caravan mode gives you a different way to play, though it lacks the replayability offered by a shooter with that mode. The regular arcade mode doesn't give players much of a reason to return once the cup has been won; a lack of options and teams limiting the game's appeal. The quick-play nature brought about by that lack of options works well for two-player matches however, and if you are looking for something simple and fun to play to play with a friend, then Super Sidekicks can provide a quick footie fix. »
« Super Sidekicks takes simple mechanics to the extreme, but in doing so creates an experience that’s chaotic and often frustrating. Lovers of the beautiful game are going to need to wait a bit longer for a worthwhile representation of the sport on Switch. »

« Este juego es un gran modo de ver lo mucho que han evolucionado los juegos de fútbol, "Super Sidekicks" es divertido y desafiante pero muy arcaico. La posibilidad de jugar con amigos o el modo arcade no terminan de hacerse valer por lo duro e imprecisos controles. No puedo recomendar el juego, resulta llamativo al principio pero con FIFA en el catálogo de la Switch es mejor pasarlo por alto e ir a la franquicia más actualizada. »
