« Nintendo Switch 2 has a summer blockbuster experience that faithfully honors its source material while introducing Star Fox to a new generation. »
« Star Fox is the blueprint for how Nintendo need to do remakes going forward. This is Star Fox for those who’ve been there from the start, and those starting here for the first time. Star Fox 64 is iconic, but this is now the definitive way to experience it. »
« Star Fox is back and better than ever, with gorgeous new visuals, sensational new content, and that same charming crew you already love. »
« It’s feels intuitive and looks amazingly smooth on-screen as you button bash and combine skills to take down armies of starships. A great addition to the Switch 2 library and a must-buy for gamers. »
« A fantastic remake of a classic that takes a huge leap forward visually. In terms of gameplay, Star Fox has never been better and offers plenty of reasons to replay each level. A must-buy if you own a Switch 2. »
« Star Fox maintains everything that was good about its N64 inspiration and enhances it with stellar visuals, an incredible soundtrack and masterful presentation. »
« Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 is a faithful reboot that modernizes the classic formula with gorgeous presentation and excellent voice acting. It plays things a little too safe at times, but the added challenges and polished gameplay make this the best Star Fox yet. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to the Lylat System, this is an easy recommendation, especially at its reasonable price point. »
« A faithful remake that pays tribute to a timeless classic without taking creative liberties, serving as proof that arcade-style design can still thrive in the modern AAA landscape. Recommended to longtime fans who still cherish their N64 cartridge, as well as anyone who enjoyed the original and wouldn't mind a modern visual overhaul. Let's just hope we won't have to revisit Lylat once again a few decades from now on Switch 4. »

« If you are looking for a 1 for 1 Starfox 64 remake, you just hit the jackpot, its phenomenal. It's fun, controls like butter, offers a good challenge and is probably the best looking game on Switch 2 as of right now. However, I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't get ANY new content. If we would've gotten 1 or 2 new levels, I would've rated this a 9 or 10... cmon Nintendo! »
« It was short and very old-school, but this simple "pew-pew" game against aliens was a lot of fun. »
« What an incredible job by Velan Studios! They somehow brought the iconic Star Fox team back through a wormhole, perfectly capturing the magic the series had on the Nintendo 64. The game still delivers that fast-paced arcade feeling while elevating every mission with cinematic moments that make the adventure even more epic and emotional. Veteran fans will get an incredible nostalgia boost and will enjoy the challenge of collecting every medal and completing all Expert challenges across every level. At the same time, the door is also wide open for newcomers who want to discover Fox McCloud outside The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Can't let you not play this game! I truly hope Nintendo keeps bringing back more of its classic gems with today's technology. Maybe F-Zero is next? »
« Absolute damn banger. Game is fun from start to finish - and a great example of a 1:1 remake should be »
« This game is so close to being perfect but I just wish they added another map or two to multiplayer. It’s a lot of fun, but playing the same 3 maps over and over kinda gets stale. The single player campaign is as fun as I remembered from the N64, and the cutscenes expand these characters a bit, but I do wish there was a tad more? Maybe from Star Wolf’s point of view? Overall, a fantastic experience with so much replayability. Challenge modes are fun, too! »
« For me it’s an 8. It’s great, it’s Star Fox on switch 2 and the graphical touch ups are awesome. Worth playing it, but to be totally honest with this review my nostalgia and joy in playing this game was higher when I was a kid playing star fox 64. Nice to return to it though but it just doesn’t have the same spark it had when I was a kid playing it. I guess the gameplay shows it was made back in the day. Still was worth visiting and I enjoyed my time with the remake. »
« (8.7/10) This is just about the best a Star Fox 64 remake could be. The graphics, orchestration, aesthetic (albeit a bit of uncanny valley on Falco and Fox), and UI are all crisp and engaging. The controls are the same, but the responsiveness is a bit more organic, so there is additional fluidity in maneuvering an Arwing, Landmaster, or Blue-Marine. The score, in particular, gets the emphasis it deserves with a full complement of re-recorded instruments. The narrative is more immersive because of the mid-mission cutscenes, which help contextualize the choices you make in veering from one planet to another as well as making the banter more integrated into the ongoing camaraderie. I don't think the voice acting is superb, but nevertheless good enough that you get a reasonable feel for the characters. I think they lost a bit of Falco's begrudging respect for Fox and made him more of a flat out jerk. This really does feel like a full-blown space opera, where the stakes are salient and the political tensions are palpable; when I played the Nintendo 64 predecessor, I didn't really have a sense of that urgency. With the remake, you do get the sense that the Lylat System is actually on the brink and the balance of power is on the line--where Star Fox just might be able to eek out a win. The new prologue adds a lot of narrative momentum, and helps introduce you to the convincing cinematic production value. The already great Koji Kondo and Hajime Hirasawa music is to this game what John Williams was to Star Wars, and goes extremely hard in its remastered high fidelity. The levels look like actual places and the paths into them are plausibly emergent as opposed to an arbitrary artifice for the sake of a video game. By modern standards, the game is way too short--while it has very good replayability due to branching paths and succinct objectives, the game can be beaten wholesale in a few hours and the challenges are mainly for enthusiasts. The multiplayer is a nice diversion I can see a bunch of people keeping up with, though it is relatively limited in scale and may become repetitive. I like that Nintendo went with the lower end of variable pricing here and the price lends itself to an easy win for a largely mismanaged franchise. The biggest weakness of the game is that it effectively adds nothing other than optimization. Nevertheless, I think it is an excellent foundation for what will hopefully turn into a more ambitious and expansive original sequel down the road in the campaign and the multiplayer. There's so much potential for epic boss battles, co-op, and fragile alliances in remote sectors of the galaxy with unforeseen enemies and iniquitous conspiracies. If you were a fan of Star Fox 64, this is a no-brainer. If you're new to Fox through the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, this is easily worth checking out. If you're into rail shooters, this is one of the best (even though it is relatively simple and obviously abbreviated). If you're looking for a fully-featured 2026 experience, this is not even attempting to offer that kind of value. Ultimately, this is a really good sign for future remakes, like Ocarina of Time, though I hope they are a little less conservative with the scope of the latter. »
« Pros: Graphics look great. Gameplay is mostly the same with slight button layout, which makes somersault and u turns easier than on a 64 controller. Multi-player surprisingly is fun online. The new cutscenes in between levels are mostly good and give more chacter in story. Cons: The character design to me is very ugly and uncanny. This goes for enemy looks too, probably the worst redesign is one of the lizard generals who looks like a abomination in area 6. Falco looks the worst out of the main characters, I don't know if it's the uncanny human eyeballs or his head is too small it's just unsettling for me. Katt is also butchered in this new hyper realistic mode, where she somehow looks like she smokes. I think if they went for a more cartoon style, and or added like frog eyes to sloppy they could make this style work. It just doesn't work for me compared to the original. Probably the worst thing overall is the voice acting. Compared to 64 the voice acting is far worse. Two examples is the shogun general and the train general. The shogun general in the remake is completely changed, probably to make it more kid friendly. Where when you defeat him he just says "that was a honorable defeat" and awkwardly explodes like it was inconvenient. Then the train general in the original would panic if you hit all the locks and yell "stop! Hit the brakes! I can't stop it aghhh!", because he literally about to crash and explode. In the new one he also just awkwardly yells "stop. Hit the brakes.", he doesn't yell or act panic and he awkwardly explodes too. Those two and many other enemy units just sound rushed or unfinished, because most don't sound scared or taughting. They all sound almost bored. Other side chacters like bill and Katt have completely different style of talking. Bill and Katt almost sounds generic, like if you played their voice compared to most the other cast you probably wouldn't know who it was. The main cast I think did well however. This game doesn't add much compared to 64. So it left me wishing there was more new content added. Like more planets or routes. Or even fights with star wolf. And I wish they added content that was added to star fox zero with a more accessible control scheme. One small con I have is the enemies do not flash red now when they are damaged. Which if your brand new to the game might be hard to know if your hitting the weak points. Overall: I think the game graphics and environment are very good. I liked most of the cutscenes they added, although some millennial humor is in some, overall I liked seeing the outcomes and the differenent paths. Multi-player isn't something I like or play often, but my time with star fox online mode was fun. However, the design of most characters and their voice acting ruin most scenes. Lack of new content also makes it hard to recommend it at its current price tag. Tldr: if you love star fox 64, you probably will like this too. I don't think it's superior, but makes it a worthy entry. »
