Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel gets title and a new tease
We knew a Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel was coming. We knew its release date - April 8th 2022, with full production starting next month. And now we know what it's going to be called. A short video shared on the film's official Twitter account revealed the title - the somewhat predictable, unimaginative but nevertheless brilliantly evocative Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It shares its name with a certain video game sequel, of course, which many consider the high point of Sega's iconic series. It certainly seems there'll be some similarities between the two, as those who've seen the original will know.Read more

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Team M2 has done another masterful job with this Sega Ages release and it’s another must-have as far as I’m concerned. Sure, Sonic 2 has been released numerous times over the years on all kinds of platforms, and you may have had your fill, but if you’re like me and it’s been many years since you’ve played this old classic, there is simply no better way to play it than on the Switch. »
« With some welcome new extras, including a playable Knuckles, SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is another masterful port from M2 and the best version of the best Sonic game yet. »
« Sonic The Hedgehog 2 continues to be pure magic and no matter how many times it gets ported onto the hottest new thing, the experience will never be diluted. »
« In spite of featuring less content than the title's 2013 remake for iOS and Android, that doesn't change the fact that this is the best version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 currently available for a home console. Knuckles is included as a playable character, Super Sonic and Super Knuckles have their own unlockable modes where the Chaos Emeralds are collected out the gate, and the inclusion of the Drop Dash only adds depth to already excellent platforming. With a fantastic set of levels, and plenty of quality of life additions, SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is one of the line's better offerings. »
« While Sega Ages: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 isn't the best version of the game you can play, it is nevertheless the best version you're going to find on any home console today. [Issue #46 – May/June 2020, p. 23] »
« The big takeaway here is that a port of Sonic 2 is still a port of a classic. I still consider the Whitehead version of the game to be the definitive release, but I’ll continue to fret at the fact that it’s still locked away on mobile devices. That shouldn’t detract from the fact that M2 pulled off yet another solid port of a game I’ll still happily blast through in 2020. »
« As 2D platformers go, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is up there with the best of them. It has brilliant music, colourful visuals, inventive stages, and is generally just a joy to play. This SEGA Ages version is better than most thanks to its responsive controls and wealth of additional features, and that’s why you should probably pick it up. Whether you’re experiencing it for the first time or are a massive fan looking for another speedy blue fix, you can’t really go wrong with SEGA AGES: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. »
« A brilliant presentation of a fantastic platformer, with a reasonable helping of extra features (some useful, others fairly throwaway). If you haven't played Sonic 2 before it's a must-have: whether it's worth buying if you already have the game in some other form, though, is questionable. »

« It’s a meh game I like its speed and action but the level design is not it sonic is a cool character but this one ain’t it still fine »
« The first half of Sonic 2 is amazing, but the game starts going on a downhill the second you enter Oil Ocean, too bad. »
« Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a classic. It’s hard to explain with words just how good this game is, but I’ll try to get close. Sonic 2 is the kind of game you can replay 23 times and never get tired of. You want to play as Sonic alone, then as Tails alone, and then with the dynamic duo together, repeating that cycle for hours. It creates an addictive feeling that’s fascinating. It’s definitely one of the best games I’ve ever played. Let’s get into the review It’s a simple story, but it’s the kind of simple story that still hooks you and makes you want to keep playing more and more. Doctor Eggman is charismatic, and his companion Miles 'Tails' Prower is also incredibly charismatic — he’s literally a fox that flies an airplane. It’s the kind of charming, nostalgic story that feels comforting and memorable.Gameplay: It’s classic Sonic gameplay, so I don’t even need to explain much. The mechanics with Tails are especially fun, and the speed-based platforming is still satisfying today.Graphics: It’s simply beautiful. The vibrant colors and the carefully crafted environments are so calm and charming that they feel almost perfect. Stages like Casino Night Zone and Metropolis Zone have colorful aesthetics and phenomenal visual design. It’s that classic visual identity that defined the older Sonic games.Soundtrack: This is the peak of the game. The soundtrack is incredible, with melodies so delicate and energetic that they make you even more addicted to the game. Tracks like the one from Casino Night Zone make you feel excited instantly. The music perfectly matches both the stage’s aesthetic and Sonic’s frantic style. Honestly, the soundtrack alone is one of the reasons to play Sonic **** it worth playing? Absolutely. Whether you’re a hardcore Sonic fan or just a casual gamer, it’s simply fun, humorous, visually beautiful, and dynamic.” »
« Sonic 2 is probably my favorite game of all time. The gameplay is amazing the level design the controls this is the first sonic game with spindash and SUPER SONIC! The artwork is brilliant and i think that this game is far from bad a well deserved 10. »

« Sonic 2 is a classic and solid adventure from the blue blur. His game have aged pretty well but suffer the same lack of meaningful stories from this era of gaming. »
