Sonic Classic
Sonic Classic est un jeu de plateforme développé par Hez, publié le 1er octobre 2011 sur PC sous Microsoft Windows. Ce projet, conçu sur le moteur Multimedia Fusion, trouve son origine dans un précédent fan game du même auteur, Sonic 1 PC, dont il constitue une ramification enrichie de nouveaux niveaux. Le titre propose d'incarner trois personnages emblématiques — Sonic, Tails et Knuckles — ainsi qu'un personnage personnalisable, tout en reprenant des éléments issus des opus classiques de la Mega Drive auxquels s'ajoutent de nouvelles mécaniques de jeu. Le jeu a connu trois mises à jour successives, la dernière révision corrigeant divers problèmes signalés par les joueurs de la version précédente.
Parallèlement à son exploitation sur ordinateur, le projet fait l'objet d'une conversion en hack pour la Mega Drive réalisée par StephenUK. Quelques mois après la sortie initiale, le développeur a annoncé travailler sur une suite, Sonic Classic 2, qui promet d'introduire de nouveaux power-ups, des éléments de level design inédits et une bande-son originale composée par Karl Brueggemann.
Concernant l'accueil critique, les avis associés à la fiche sont contrastés. L'Official Nintendo Magazine UK a jugé qu'il ne s'agissait pas d'un excellent port, regrettant un manque de contenu, mais a souligné que la qualité du gameplay restait présente. Kombo a noté quelques défauts sonores et des baisses de fluidité, tout en considérant l'expérience comme représentant Sonic à son meilleur à l'ancienne. Des retours d'utilisateurs sur Metacritic font état de problèmes de taux de rafraîchissement et de latence aux commandes, l'un d'eux précisant que sur DS Lite le jeu semblait tourner correctement, tandis qu'un autre commentaire, visiblement sans rapport avec ce titre, critique vertement un jeu mobile au modèle « Pay to Win ».

« honestly, from what i've heard, this game is kind of mediocre in terms of frame rate and input lag, but from my experience on my DS Lite, this seems to play perfectly. the controls are at least responsive on my end, although removing some of the features from the original games should not have been necessary. but overall, if you want to experience Sonic 3 this current decade, since the Steam version is delisted and the prices on eBay are high (i think), this would be your only choice. but overall, i can recommend this to some extent as long as you have fun with it »

« The game that introduced me to an amazing series Sonic Classic Collection is a collection of the original 4 SEGA Mega Drive Sonic titles, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles with Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles included. The game also includes an art gallery with artwork for the older games in the franchise. The game runs really well in Sonic 1 and 2 but Sonic 3 is a little buggy at times. The devs even went above and beyond to keep the original stage select screens, sound test codes and debug modes! All in all, Sonic Classic Collection is a near perfect game »
