Platformines, développé par Magiko Gaming, est paru le 5 février 2014 sur PC (Microsoft Windows) via la plateforme Steam. Ce jeu indépendant de type plateforme propose une expérience 2D mêlant exploration, éléments de RPG et de tir dans un vaste monde souterrain au style 16-bit. Le joueur entreprend une quête visant à reconstruire son vaisseau spatial au sein d'un réseau minier géant, affrontant ennemis, pièges et trésors, avec la possibilité de personnaliser son personnage et de gravir les classements. Le titre repose sur un moteur XNA et génère un nombre infini de mondes aléatoires aux configurations variées, avec trois niveaux de difficulté et une personnalisation étendue incluant objets et coiffures trouvables en jeu.
D'après les données recueillies, une partie scénario principal s'effectue en environ cinq heures et le complet en quinze heures et demie. Le score Metacritic s'établit à 67 et la note agrégée à 62,25. La presse a salué son gameplay de plateforme old style, ses graphismes pixellisés et sa musique rétro, tout en relevant que le monde est complexe et cohérent mais peut lasser après quelques heures. Certains joueurs sur Steam décrivent un jeu de plateforme et de shooter sans prétention mais efficace, demandant toutefois de la précision, tandis que d'autres y voient une expérience marquante. Proposé au prix de 0,79 euro, Platformines reste un titre accessible sous DRM Steam.
