« A pirate's life should never be a solitary one, and the game works much better when played with a group of mates. [Issue #24, p.74] »
« Pirates: Duels on the High Seas is not particularly a bad game, it is just one that does not stand out. »
« It's a decent game that misses out on greatness due to a lack of thought in level design and a lack of variety in looks. »
« The lack of online multiplayer really brings the score down for Pirates: Duels on the High Sea. With the repetitive gameplay in the singleplayer mode, an online multiplayer mode would really have made Pirates much more fun. »
« The problem arises from the fact that it never tries to better itself as you progress. »
« It's certainly not terrible, but then there's absolutely nothing special or interesting about it either. »
« While it’s still a way off being a title to remember, it’s a massive improvement on KoD and shows promise for the franchise that appears to be on the up, addressing key areas like the difficulty. »
« Suddenly, it’s not nice any more. It’s a joke. £25 worth of bland. It’s like buying a surprise celebrity and getting home to discover it’s Dale Winton. »
