« Get ready to lose if you play this game! I'd be interested to learn more about how the algorithms work, but it seems that sometimes the software responds in-kind to decisions I've made. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. As the player, your decisions can certainly lose you the game, but sometimes it doesn't matter how well you play, you're not going to win. At a guess, my success rate is around 30%. You can select your team. I've found the strongest combination is Medic, Scientist, Researcher, but even then when the game software loads up outbreaks into a small area your position can change from pretty strong to a loss within just two turns - and there's nothing you can do to prevent it. As long as you expect to be losing more than you're winning, regardless of how well you play, you won't be frustrated. Technically it's a good app with only one serious bug that I've found so far (when eight cards appear in a player's hand sometimes the card display panel on the right gets stuck and won't pull out and you cannot see what city cards the players hold. By hitting Exit and then Resume you can usually reactivate the right-side info panel). The music is horribly repetitive, so I just keep that muted. It would be great to have an option to swtich off the rule and gameplay reminders. An experienced player doesn't need to be told every game what the rules are. »

« Full disclosure: I'm one of the developers of this app. However, having played this game probably over 300 times, I can really say that it is a top-notch app. The workflow is smooth, needed information is easily accessible, and the interface is really nice. Most things in it fade in/out or grow/shrink when appearing/disappearing. The undo system works flawlessly, and the save-game system is completely invisible. With the coming update (the first bit of On the Brink expansion content), several small issues are getting a cleanup, so it will be even better than before. As far as iPad boardgame adaptations go, this is as good as they get. »

« Pandemic for iOS is pretty darn good. It captures all the feel of the board game and, I think, all of the rules. It allows for a very fast set up for single player. The UI is super easy to use. Seeing all of the pieces of the games (cards, board, special rules, event cards, etc.) at one time is a little challenging, but the designers did a great job of making everything sensible and accessible. The game looks great. It mimics the look of the board game while adding visual effects that add to the experience. Great job all around. »
