NBA ShootOut 2004
Publié le 20 octobre 2003 sur PlayStation 2 et PlayStation, NBA ShootOut 2004 est un jeu de sport proposant de disputer des saisons complètes ou des matchs d'exhibition de basket-ball NBA entièrement licencié avec les équipes et joueurs favoris. Les joueurs modélisés en 3D et entièrement texturés intègrent les visages des meilleures stars de la ligue, et les parties sont commentées en direct par Ian Eagle et Bill Walton.
Le titre ne propose pas de mode franchise, mais offre un mode carrière dans lequel le joueur crée un personnage devant progresser à travers les summer leagues et la NBDL en relevant divers défis, afin de signer un contrat en NBA. Une fois dans la ligue, il faut remporter des championnats et des titres pour espérer être intronisé au Hall of Fame. Par ailleurs, les cinquante plus grands joueurs de l'histoire peuvent être débloqués en accomplissant des défis lors des matchs d'exhibition, comme marquer un certain nombre de points ou distribuer des passes décisives avec un joueur précis. Il est également possible d'utiliser un microphone USB pour donner des ordres à ses coéquipiers sur les déplacements à adopter en attaque ou en défense.
Concernant l'accueil critique, Next Level Gaming a regretté que « The one thing that brings the game down in score is the still lanky graphics engine. » De son côté, Game Informer a salué la progression du titre en indiquant que « While a perennnial bronze medal winner on PS2, this year's ShootOut has officially got game. »
