Mewgenics
Mewgenics

« Mewgenics is a tactical RPG that only appears cute on the surface, hiding beneath its layer of meows an unprecedentedly deep, brutally addictive, and creatively unrestrained system that rewards experimentation, tolerates failure, and joyfully breaks its own rules. It offers an almost endless number of combinations, constant surprises, and the sense of playing something that refuses to repeat itself or pander. It can easily consume hundreds of hours without ever feeling exhausted or self-indulgent, while confidently pushing the entire genre forward. If a modern gold standard for tactical roguelite RPGs exists, its name is Mewgenics. »
« Mewgenics is an eclectic, strategy-filled experience. I’ve never played a game that combines cat breeding with tactical, turn-based battles like this. It was worth the wait. »
« Mewgenics is one of the densest and most entertaining tactics games ever made, and I'll be discovering new stuff in it for years to come. »
« While the early-2000s humor is often grating and dated, there's no denying that everything else about Mewgenics is nothing short of magnificent. This is a wildly inventive and deeply compelling hybrid of genres that will keep you occupied for years. »
« Mewgenics is a turn-based tactical RPG with Roguelike structure inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics and D&D. Mewgenics puts the player in control of cats that explore dangerous areas and evolve through genetic breeding at the home base. The Game stands out for its strategic depth, strong art style, memorable soundtrack, and game of the year potential in 2026. »
« Highly addictive tactical roguelite with flexible rules and endlessly motivating progression. Already one of the candidates for game of the year. »
« Mewgenics deserves all its praise and more, delivering a solid monster-rancher premise with strong roguelike gameplay and packaging it all with incredible humor that only the creative minds behind Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac could pull off. You couldn’t swing a cat around in this game without smashing it into something awesome. »
« Mewgenics does exactly what a roguelite should do: it never gets boring. Every time we think we've seen it all, another class is added. Or a new mechanic, effect, or level. The 13 years of development time were definitely worth it, because so much content in a single game is anything but ordinary. If you're into roguelites, turn-based tactics, or cats, you should definitely check out Mewgenics. »

« Amazing music score (needs to win an award for this period), gameplay loop, and content. Takes a little bit of trial and error to get into but once you do, I’ve put in 500 hours in and still only 96% complete (out of 107%). If you’re a fan of TBoI or Ed’s games, you have to give it a try »
« TRPG with Cats, breeding and some of the best Soundtracks you've ever heard in a game »
« The game is very RNG dependent and if you are as unlucky as I am, you will run into combat events 4 times within the span of 10 hours of gameplay that completely kill the majority of your full or close to full health team... at the START of a fight before ANY unit even has a chance of taking a turn. There is literally nothing you can do to prevent this from happening. You just have to hope it doesn't. This will also generally happen after you just spent close to an hour leveling up this team of cats and carefully crafting their build. What also will happen A LOT is you will design a cat around a specific play type... like setting things on fire. You will craft this cat to be the best at setting things on fire and your team to really benefit from fire damage... and then the game will spawn a random event that you CAN'T stop that permanently makes it rain for the rest of the run... effectively making everything you did up to that point completely useless. This was my experience with the game as apparently one of unluckiest Mewgenics players alive. It may or may not be your experience too. My feeling is that the RNG will either be lucky for you... which will make you love the game. Or the RNG will be unlucky for you which will make you hate the game. I have no idea how many runs are supposed to end with your team just being randomly killed by an unstoppable combat event at the start of a fight. It happened in 4 of my 10 runs, but maybe it is not supposed to happen 40% of the time. But the fact it happened for me is why I am rating it so low. Edit: I am not sure how anyone is giving this a 10/10. Game is definitely NOWHERE near being perfect even if you get lucky with your cats. The UI is honestly some of the worst UI I have ever seen in a game which is terrible for a game where you are supposed to be managing cats and your house in the breeding system. At BEST.... the game is like an 8 because of how objectively terrible that UI is. »
« очень хорошая игра с лучшей музыкой, единственный минус это то что некоторые достижения ну уж очень сложные например прохождение 3 акта на высокий сложностях, прохождение 3 акта на 1 из повышенных сложностей заняло у меня месяц »
« Somehow Edmund managed to get this game made. Probably one of the best games I've ever played »
« 10/10 the rule 34 is great, but it does not have Breno from the **** origins from gassyplays productions on youtube, please add a way to have sex with humans in the game Edmund i would like to crack Tink so bad. »
« Years in the making, Mewgenics brings its wildly humorous yet grossly strange cat army to your disposal. This tactical turn-based rougelite slams the absurdities of owning a cat army with all kinds of traits ranging from mental disorders to physical abnormalities. Though it sounds bad, these make for some really fun builds to push your gang of cats through each of the detailed areas.Mewgenics offers solid turn based combat, each cat filling a traditional role. But after each area is cleared, your kitties get to retire(as they should)leaving you with breeding new cat warriors. The unfortunate part in this can lead to some winners and some downright frustrating runs. The soundtrack is great fun and the humor can be great, but it does get somewhat old after about 15 or so hours. Overall Mewgenics is a still a great game that will entertain for hours. »
« Mewgenics is amazing! Already expected a great rogue-like game from the same creators of The Binding of Isaac, but Mewgenics is way more than it. Really complex game with alot tactical turn-based combat and a breeding mechanic that is just so good to use once you understand how it works. »
