Overwatch sets might be canned, but 2022 should be a good year for Lego and Gaming
Lego Overwatch hasn’t had the greatest time of things. I always felt the two brands were a bit of a weird fit – but it was never exactly successful despite having some cool sets. After two ‘waves’ of Overwatch building kits, Lego seemingly canned the majority of a third wave of Overwatch sets thanks to the tepid response. A couple of sets survived, with one planned to release next month - but that’s now been shelved thanks to the ongoing disaster that is the public-facing image and internal operations of Activision Blizzard. Disgraced executives refusing to resign may very well have hammered the final nail into the Lego Overwatch theme. If you love video games and have an interest in Lego, however, all is not lost. In fact, 2022 might be the best ever year for Lego and video games. We’ve got a new Lego Star Wars game coming, yes - but I’m talking about the physical toys.I realize the overlap of people who religiously follow both video game news and Lego news probably isn’t that large, so let me just catch you up on a development from last year: a dedicated ‘Lego Gaming’ line of sets might be on the way. Rather than being a series of Lego builds based on a specific franchise, as with Overwatch and Super Mario, these would be a series of disconnected sets from a wide range of franchises all released under one generic banner - which is exciting. The 10 best Star Wars games on PC
A new hope. After two boring-but-fine Star Wars: Battlefront games, we’re now on the verge of EA’s third swing of the lightsaber with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. There are reasons to think it might be more interesting than early trailers suggested, after writers such as our own Matt came back from a recent preview event with his pockets filled with (qualified) comparisons to Sekiro. What are the chances that it will live up to the very best Star Wars games to grace the PC, however? Here are our picks for the company Fallen Order should aspire to keep. (more…)
Xbox Game Pass gets four Star Wars games
Xbox Game Pass just got four Star Wars games: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2.There's a lot to love in this collection of Star Wars titles, but my favourite has to be Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. BioWare's awesome role-playing game launched on the original Xbox, where I first played it, back in 2003 and features an awesome story as well as some brilliant characters. (BioWare had a really cool idea for KOTOR 2, by the way.)But Star Wars The Force Unleashed is well worth a shot, too. LucasArts' action game introduced a new protagonist called Starkiller, who was supposedly Darth Vader's secret apprentice (this was all Star Wars canon before Disney stuck its oar in). Starkiller was ridiculously overpowered, which meant you could chuck scores of Stormtroopers about as if they were puppets on a string (the game used NaturalMotion's Euphoria tech, which Grand Theft Auto 4 also used, for its AI animation).Read more…
Avis des critiques et joueurs
Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Simple, easy-to-use controls are marred only by the game’s sometimes atrocious handling of the camera. »
« Perhaps the best compliment that one can pay to LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is that it feels like you're playing with a living LEGO playset. »
« With a solid action core, innovative puzzles, teamwork concepts, and the clever integration of the endearing LEGO franchise, this would be a great game even without the Star Wars license. »
« If you're new to the series, this collection is a terrific way to get into it all in one huge, time-sucking package. [oliday 2007, p.82] »
« A fantastic game that deserves to be played by everyone. It is easily accessible, truly addictive, and loaded with tons of content to warrant the $50 price tag. However, if you have already played through the first two games there is little here worth coming back for unless online co-op and more Achievement points are your thing. »
« Overall a well put together homage to Starwars told through the medium of Lego. Ranging from funny to frustrating it will keep you coming back for more. »
« The experience is a good length, without even engaging the replays, and its feel-good manner and attention to its source material is unmatched for a licensed game. »
« Being able to build your own Star Wars creations from other character parts is a hoot. Bottom line, Saga is excellent closure to the Lego Star Wars series. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« Per quanto non perfetta per via di alcuni suoi problemi in varie parti e livelli, resta un prodotto di estrema qualità e un modo perfetto di "vivere" questa saga ma piena di mattoncini. 8.8/10 »
« This game was great when I was a kid but I'm no longer a kid. Gameplay can feel repetitive at times and the combat usually just comes down to spamming. I love the humor and charm the game has and I do like a good bit of the level design. I would recommend this game to Star Wars fans and children 8 or older. »
« I'm currently playing through all the Lego Games, and this was my starting point. Which is a great introduction into the Lego games, but if you've played newer titles you might feel this to be too basic & simple. With time, you could say the game has aged poorly- but that's not to ignore that within its time, it was a top tier game and served as the foundation to the following Lego games and built what fans love about these games. I enjoyed the gameplay, my pov is coming from someone who played this as a child too. So I have some nostalgic love for it, but as an adult this game did really annoy me at times- especially trying to 100% the game. But I did enjoy collecting all the characters and was a highlight of the experience- Overall, its a fun Lego experience - for fans and star wars fans alike and definitely worth a shot of your ever interested. »
« This game no matter what platform maybe even the Nintendo Wii I said it, was my peak childhood even though I never had this game as a kid. I had Lego Star wars 1 and 2 and to put these two games together was the smartest move ever in the history of gaming. If Disney wasn't too busy hating on Star wars fans and making a bunch of conspiracy theories about Star wars fans. They need to get their head out of their butts and actually put this on all modern systems with a proper re-release. Even if they do the bare minimum and put Lego Star wars 1 and 2 on GameCube switch online. Oh wait I forgot Disney hates Star wars fans never mind Disney hates Star wars fans. »
« Childhood ruined. Blue stud. Mocked me from the abyss. Couldn’t sleep at night knowing I’d never reach 100%. Would rather face Darth Vader without a lightsaber than see that thing again. »
« [SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers.] »
« While many technical aspects of Lego Star Wars has not aged very well, the simplicity of its design is its strongest attribute. It offers a kid-friendly approach to designing levels and telling the story, most of which is mimed in a charming way that I wish the Lego games still did. The game offers a plethora of extra collectibles that give this compilation a ton of replay value. I love so many little details about this game like the Cantina hub world or the humorous little quirks within their animation. However, there are many dated systems and mechanics, one of which being the look of the game, which is a lot less "Lego Set" looking than I remembered. Not to mention, the janky camera controls or the tedium of collecting everything. Overall, though, it is a charming adventure that is still well worth playing even after the Skywalker Saga. »
« Played some of the earlier Star Wars Lego versions years ago but never finished them. Got The Complete Saga for free on GOG. It's been fun but I think a lot of these scores are based off of nostalgia for Star Wars, Lego and old games in general. I have been victim of all of these especially old games, but I recommend players replay their old games and see if they hold up. This one does not. And a couple things prevent this from becoming a perfect game. The first biggest issue is the camera. It is terribly placed in quite a few levels and locations causing a lot of unneeded deaths when your character is on the other side of the location, if only couple extra camera movements to new locations would help. In a few locations it is downright broken, like the Darth Maul reactor level where you can't even see your character if you move to higher platforms. How has this not been fixed in 15 years? AI controlled characters.... they are dumb, useless and more often in the way and can sometimes push you off ledges. They are only there to switch to with Y button. They rarely ever even kill an enemy, I wish you could opt to remove them and call them in to swap when needed. Chasing down exposed studs gets annoying and adds probably 20-30% playtime to each level. When they spawn they are immune to pickup for a second so you even if you are strategically placed you must chase them all around and will usually loses many to pits and a very quick despawn. The puzzles and platforming are great. The humor if fun. The character unlocks with the special abilities make 100% playthrough addictive. But a few tweaks that would take programmers a week would have made this game perfect. »
