Final Fantasy II is a 1988 role-playing video game developed and published by Square for the Family Computer as the second installment of the Final Fantasy series. It was ported to and remade for WonderSwan Color, PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation Portable, and mobile phones. Originally exclusive to Japan, later versions were released internationally, including the 2021 Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster version. The story follows the warrior Firion and his allies as they join a rebellion against the expanding Palamecian Empire. The gameplay is similar to the original game with an overworld and dungeon exploration, but its combat design is changed to a usage-based growth system where characters' statistics increase according to how they are used or acquired.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« It feels much more fun and fresh than its predecessor. [Aug 2007, p.83] »
« Great blast from the past, although the experience mechanics could be a bit better. Overall, 2D has never looked so sweet »
« These complaints aside, Final Fantasy II is yet another great addition to the PSP's slowly improving library and really shows off the care and attention that Square Enix puts into its remakes. [Aug 2007, p.88] »
« Exciting turn-based battles that grow tiring from time to time. The strategic elements are the most interesting. »
« Final Fantasy II is an interesting blast from the past for those die hard FF fanatics. Others may not enjoy the fantasy so much thanks to a very odd leveling system. »
« A wonderful little game that is a must buy for any Final Fantasy fanatic. The revamped graphics, sounds, story, and additional content make the game a valuable addition to your PSP. »
« Final Fantasy II is a game that sports a refreshed look and feel, but a noticeable lack of added features and content puts a damper on this celebration. »
« For those who are interested in some slightly-skewed nostalgia and the freedom to manipulate their characters' skills on a microscopic level, Final Fantasy II is a perfect time sink of RPG pleasure. »

« Well, it's Final Fantasy II, I finally played this franchise and I can already say that I love it, let's first talk about the graphics, I played the 20th anniversary version which is more updated for modernity, so the pixel art is very beautiful with some cool animations and some very beautiful cutscenes that surprised me, I took a look at the original and it's also beautiful, but obviously with the limitations of the time. The OST is nothing to talk about, Final Fantasy will always have awesome OSTs and this game is no exception, I like them all but my favorites are the prelude music and the "open" map music, I spent a lot of time walking around that map and the music comforted me, the story is really cool a bit cliché but still fun, the characters are great each one has their own difference and personality which makes them very memorable, even more so with what we see with some of them in the extra after the end which is a very good plot twist, and finally the most important thing is the gameplay which takes a lot from the classic JRPG but with some glaring differences, one of them is that there are simply no "levels" the whole game works by skill where each Status is a skill that you level up individually by fulfilling certain requirements, for example to level up HP you need to take damage, and it is the same for all the other Status each one with a specific requirement, you can change the formation of the characters being able to stay in front or behind, but this is kind of bad because if the character stays behind he does not take damage, therefore he does not level up Hp, so I barely used it, otherwise the gameplay is very similar to a classic jrpg. Final Fantasy II is a great jrpg, if you've played other games in the franchise and haven't played this one, go for it without fear, you won't regret it, and if you've never played it, you can start with this one too, it's not very difficult, it's very easy for beginners. »
« This game gets a boosted rating due to this port being the best way for one to experience this game if needed. Final Fantasy II is sincerely a mess to play, it becomes a slog after the slightest bit of grinding due to the insane mechanics that leveling carries here. I cannot say much either for the Dawn of Souls content which lets you control random characters that join and leave your party quickly in the main quest... Which means they and by extension you are woefully unprepared to even attempt this second quest. »
« I like Final Fantasy II, and I’m sure it’s because of the skill based system. The story is promising from such an old fossil ****, but nothing compared to later entries. In the end, it feels exactly like a step up from the original, but not exactly a classic like the original. Souls of Rebirth is also a nice addition to FFII, expanding upon its universe, but in the end it just comes out like a bad hand in poker. »
« worth it and glad to play ti this game again. so much memories and nostalgia within this second game in the series. »
« A great game with fun gameplay and a satisfying story, simple as that. I really enjoyed the leveling system, it feels like you have actual control of how your characters grow »
« Bel livello di difficoltà e trama carina ! Anche i **** sono ben fatti !non male ! »
