Description (IGDB)

This release of Final Fantasy is built upon the Game Boy Advance version of the game. It retains the bonus dungeons, bestiary and unlockable BGM music player from said version, as well as the CG intro from the Playstation version. It also features improved graphics done in 16:9 format with larger fonts and higher quality of music and sound effects. There is also an entirely new dungeon dubbed "The Labyrinth of Time" which enforces a time limit on the player, as well as an unlockable Yoshitaka Amano art gallery in this version.

Avis des critiques et joueurs

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

GamePro 95/100

« Gamers who are used to contemporary titles may find this one a little too simplistic and old for their tastes but if you can look beyond that, you'll be treated to an amazing rendition of a classic console RPG. [July 2007, p.86] »

GameTrailers 86/100

« As the traditional RPG goes the way of the dodo, a play through the original Final Fantasy is a nice, entertaining way to rediscover the genre’s roots and remember why a lot of us got into these games in the first place. And this really is the ultimate remake of the game that started it all. »

Pocket Gamer UK 80/100

« Far more than a cynical cash-in, this PSP version of Final Fantasy is the perfect opportunity to see where it all began. »

GameSpy 80/100

« Anyone coming to this game free of any prior experience with Final Fantasy in its previous incarnations will not be disappointed and longtime fans of the series in general will be gratified by witnessing the roots of such a storied franchise. However, those hardcore fans that have played the GBA version may find little to bring them back except the luscious screen resolution of the PSP. »

PSM Magazine 80/100

« It's definitely old-school, but it's just as fun and charming as it was 20 years ago - only with modern tweaks that make it even better. [Aug 2007, p.83] »

AceGamez 80/100

« The gameplay is tried and true, not attempting to hide how simple the battle system really is. »

MEGamers 76/100

« If you’re new to the FF universe, consider this game as your initiation into the fold. »

Game Informer 75/100

« This is the best version of this game out there, and every RPG fan should experience the original "Final Fantasy" at least once. [July 2007, p.107] »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

Leonx7 8/10

« A simple and clean final fantasy game , easy to play and to understand but little bit hard to explore »

Everonfan 8/10

« Before the Pixel Remaster version existed, the PSP port was perhaps the best way to enjoy this title. And honestly, I loved it! For a game from 1987, it has some incredible ideas. My score: **** »

Hosep 8/10

« The originator for all Final Fantasies to follow, I chose this port for the great mix of graphical updates and keeping with the Dawn of Souls content from the previous releases, the additional superboss is for sure a challenge but certainly not an unwelcome one. A great way to play this Final Fantasy game which still ranks well against the others. »

DegenerateKeith 7/10

« Graphically, they've spruced things up for the PSP, giving the original pixelated sprites a facelift. It's like putting an Instagram filter on a vintage photo – a bit of modern polish without losing that retro charm. Gameplay: Gameplay-wise, it's a trip down memory lane. Turn-based combat, a party of four, and the classic job system – it's the foundation that countless RPGs have built upon. But let's be real, the grind in this game is like a workout routine from hell. It's a testament to the era, but can we all collectively agree that the encounter rate is a tad excessive? Soundtrack: Now, let's talk tunes. The PSP version inherits the iconic soundtrack from the original, and it's like Nobuo Uematsu's compositions were tailor-made for this handheld experience. The music remains timeless, like a symphony that transcends the boundaries of gaming generations Story: And the narrative – it's as straightforward as a classic fantasy novel. Save the princess, defeat the evil, restore peace to the kingdom – it's the hero's journey 101. But back in the day, this was groundbreaking stuff, laying the groundwork for the epic tales we see in RPGs today. However, the PSP version isn't without its quirks. The translation is a bit wonky, with lines that can be more confusing than a David Lynch film. It's like they used Google Translate for the dialogue, and it shows. Final Fantasy on the PSP is a nostalgic trip for longtime fans and a history lesson for the new generation of gamers. It's not without its flaws, but the simplicity and purity of the original experience shine through. »

RivaK 8/10

« There are no pros, no cons, really just an ordinary RPG that anyone could make in 3 days. although very ordinary, the game was made in 1986 so going to forgive it. worth the time, 6hrs of pçaytime good for relaxing »

jumarq 9/10

« I think it is fantastic. All is already said about this classic that started it all. FF on the go with enhanced graphics. »

Redcoat_Legion 7/10

« As someone who has played this game about five times through, this is just filler text until I can process my overall thoughts, but my rating is my final rating. »

Luahanseng 8/10

« Final Fantasy 1 on PS Vita Game completed : November 28, 2021 Playtime : 20 hrs For a 34 year old with its hardware limitation, and being the flagship of RPG, this is a descent and well made game. The story, phasing, and enjoyment really holds out even today just you set your expectation right. Its concept and looting structure is descent and better than most of the mediocre RPGs out there. The game overall ages well. I like that this game is so damn difficult compared to todays RPGs i have to check my guide every now and then because i anticipate it would take me a hundred hour if i wouldnt and i dont have the time for a classic old game. Its psp remake really does well it would still feel as if you are playing the original. »
