Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends, développé par Cooking Mama Limited et Office Create, est paru le 13 novembre 2007 sur Nintendo DS et Wii. Ce titre de simulation invite les joueurs à préparer divers plats en suivant les instructions de Mama via l'écran tactile de la console portable, en enchaînant des minijeux pour réaliser 80 recettes différentes. La performance culinaire est évaluée par une note sur 100 et une médaille, et les bonus obtenus lors des minijeux s'accumulent en étoiles débloquant des objets tous les cinq bonus. L'expérience principale est estimée à environ cinq heures, contre une trentaine d'heures pour une complétion intégrale, et le score agrégé du jeu s'élève à 73,50.
Concernant l'accueil critique, l'Official Nintendo Magazine UK a salué le fait que, bien que le jeu ne marque pas un grand pas en avant, les modes ajoutés en font une expérience plus complète, tandis que GamingTrend a estimé que le titre mérite l'attention même sans avoir joué à l'original, à moins de rejeter les minijeux ou les graphismes colorés. En revanche, certains joueurs sur Metacritic ont exprimé des avis non pertinents, l'un indiquant avoir noté par erreur sans y avoir joué, et un autre décrivant de façon manifestement fantaisiste une mission d'assassinat, sans lien avec le contenu réel du jeu.
