3D MahJongg, publié par Joindots, est sorti le 1er mai 2012 sur Nintendo 3DS. Selon le résumé fourni par IGDB, il s'agit du premier titre MahJongg proposé sur l'eShop, conçu expressément pour cette console. Classé dans les genres stratégie, réflexion/puzzle et jeu de cartes & de société, le jeu affiche une note agrégée de 63.00.
Sur le plan des retours, Nintendo Life a présenté le jeu comme un package épuré et simple pour les fans de la version solitaire du MahJongg, citant notamment 200 niveaux. NintendoWorldReport a pour sa part confié apprécier le mode de règle « Rivers » pour son rythme soutenu, tout en jugeant que l'expérience n'offre pas beaucoup plus pour attirer les joueurs. Un utilisateur sur Metacritic a quant à lui rapporté que le titre fait exactement ce qui est annoncé, soit un mahjong respectant les règles de Shanghai en 3D et d'une approche directe.

« 3D MahJongg is a clean and simple package for fans of the solitaire version of MahJongg. With 200 levels - though there are really exponentially more than that - multiple layouts and style unlockables, plus the ability to launch at any point into a random challenge, it's a solid buy for those wanting MahJongg on the go. For those who aren't already fans there's not much here to change your mind, however. »
« I like 3D MahJongg because of the fast paced "Rivers" rule mode. Aside from that, I feel like the game doesn't provide much more to entice players. Collecting backgrounds and different layouts by playing through the adventure mode has no worthwhile appeal. 3D MahJongg will become a great game to waste my time on when I have a minute or two to spare, but nothing more. »

« As the British are wont to say, "It does exactly what it says on the tin." 3D **** a Shanghai-rules mahjong game, and it is in 3D. This is straightforward, few-frills tile-matching, with a decent little soundtrack and a good variety of tile and background themes. Like other similar titles, 3D **** a bit with how to make best use of stereoscopic 3D on the Nintendo 3DS; I find myself usually playing with the 3D effect turned off. Use of the lower touch screen for matching tiles works well. Fans of the genre which is almost as old as computer gaming itself should be satisfied, particularly with the optional "rivers" rules for an added challenge. »
