Square Product Development Division 2
Formed in 1996 after an internal restructure on Square, this division handled Mana and SaGa releases such as Legend of Mana and SaGa Frontier and SaGa Frontier 2. After the merging with Enix Corporation, development of the Mana series would be transferred to Square Enix Product Development Division 8, while development on SaGa would remain on Division 2.

Square's flagship development division from 1996 to 2003. Responsible for Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, and notably directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, Shinji Hashimoto and Yoshinori Kitase. After the merging with Enix Corporation it would simply be renamed "Square Enix Product Development Division 1".
