Founded in 1994, NEXON Co., Ltd. is a company engaged in the production, development and operation of online games and Virtual Worlds. First listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in December 2011, Nexon was placed on JPX400 in 2015 and added to the Nikkei Stock Index 300 in 2017. In 2020, Nexon was added to the Nikkei 225. Nexon currently has more than 50 live games on multiple platforms including mobile and available in more than 190 countries. Major game franchises include Maple Story, KartRider and Dungeon&Fighter. In 2021, Nexon completed the acquisition of Embark Studios AB, a company based in Stockholm, Sweden, developing multiple projects for global release.

First based in the UK, it relocated to Waterford and was the first big developer in Ireland eventually with about seventeen programmers and five graphic artists. It was established by Mike Dixon (formerly EMI) and Dave Martin (formerly Martech).

OutSide Directors Company
OutSide Directors Company (OSD) was a Japanese video game developer behind the Planetokio series and LSD Dream Emulator, founded by Osamu Sato This company also developed Osamu Sato's largest project, the LSD Dream Emulator. The company possibly merged to Asmik Ace Entertainment in early 2000s. Although it was declared defunct in Japan in early 2001, due to Osamu Sato leaving the company to work on his music for the albums "Equal" and "LSD Revamped", but over a decade later, Asmik Ace found new nesting ground in Greensboro, NC where it re-founded as an American company on September 29, 2016. By 2015, the company had ceased operations.

Silicon Knights
Silicon Knights was a game development company Headquartered in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, founded in 1992 by Denis Dyack. In 2007, Silicon Knights sued Epic Games, the developers of the Unreal Engine, about their losses and problems related to Unreal Engine 3. However, on August 9, 2007, Epic Games counter-sued Silicon Knights over, among other things, copyright infringement related to Unreal Engine. Epic Games won on May 30, 2012. This case led Silicon Knights to multiple lawsuits, resulting in the company filing for bankruptcy on May 16, 2014.
